A Time to Dance
Elizabeth is a 2007 graduate of Greene County Tech High School and a 2010 honor graduate of Black River Technical College. She has an associate of arts degree in education. Elizabeth has worked as an instructor at both the Performing Arts Academy and Tabatha's Dance Company in Paragould, AR. Elizabeth is a certified member of the Southern Association of Dance Masters.
As a student for seven years at the Performing Arts Academy, Elizabeth was instructed by Heather Claude and Ray Lynn Green in ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, acrobatics, tap, and modern dance technique. She also attended summer workshops taught by master instructors, Kameron Walters, Ilka Doubek, Annie Day, Marcus Alford, and Leslie Jordan III.
In college, Elizabeth trained in tap at Arkansas State University and ballet at Belhaven University. Most recently she has received instruction at the Dance Masters of America Teachers Training School, the Southern Association of Dance Masters and at the MusicWorks Teacher Connection.
Elizabeth has won over seventy dance awards at regional and national dance competitions. She also won the title of Miss Teen Northeast Arkansas 2006, competing with a pointe solo she choreographed. As Miss Teen Northeast Arkansas, Elizabeth was an advocate for the performing arts visiting with the Civitan and Rotary Clubs as well as visiting with elementary school children teaching them dance basics.
Elizabeth was a member of the Mid-South Ballet Theatre for seven years where she danced in the annual presentation of the Nutcracker. She also danced in the Peter and the Wolf ballet accompanied by the Delta Symphony Orchestra in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
While in high school, Elizabeth choreographed many dance numbers for the school's musicals and received the departmental award in theater her senior year.
Elizabeth is a former Greene County Fine Arts Council (GCFAC) board member. She was the assistant choreographer for the GCFAC productions of Beauty and the Beast and Wizard of Oz. She was also the choreographer for the GCFAC production of Fiddler on the Roof.
Elizabeth's husband is Bryan Miller and they are both members of Bible Baptist Church in Paragould, AR. In September of 2017 the couple welcomed their first child David into the world.
Melissa is a 1992 graduate of McCrory High School and a 2013 graduate of Arkansas State University. She holds a Bachelors's degree in Biological Sciences and a Masters in Environmental, Safety and Health Management.
To overcome being incredibly shy, Melissa began studying dance at the age of three in Hazen, AR. At the age of six her family moved to Texas and Melissa began classes at Doris Rouse's School of Dance. There she learned tap, ballet, jazz and baton twirling. She competed with Mrs. Rouse's Drill Team the Lone Star Starettes and her dance teams for six years working her way up from 2nd Lieutenant to Head Lieutenant. She also won several solo and group competitions all over Texas, Arkansas and Louisiana.
When the family moved back to Arkansas, Melissa began studying under Carma Jean Reeves in Augusta, AR at Reeves Dance Studio. There she continued her dance training in tap, ballet, pointe and jazz. In her last two years of high school, Melissa worked at the dance studio as Mrs. Reeves's student teacher. Her senior year she won her local and county talent competitions and competed in the Arkansas State Fair with a tap routine she co-choreographed taking home 1st Runner up.
Following high school Melissa owned her own studio in Brinkley, AR for four years, where she taught tap, ballet and jazz.
Melissa lives in Brookland with her husband Chris and her youngest son Austin. Melissa also has two older children, Trevor who lives in Cleveland, OH and Brittany who lives in McCrory, AR.
Tristan Bennett is a ballet instructor at A Time to Dance. She is an Arkansas State University student majoring in broadcast journalism with minors in theatre and history. She grew up in Carlisle, Arkansas, and graduated from Carlisle High School in 2017. After graduating with her bachelor’s degree in December 2020, she plans to attend law school.
Tristan started dancing at Lana’s Dance Studio when she was three years old. Over her fifteen years at the studio, she was trained by Lana Grober and Marla Edwards in ballet, tap, jazz, musical theatre, lyrical, and hip hop. Some highlights from her years of dance include winning the Spotlight Dance Cup Sharing the Spotlight Scholarship for her dedication to service in her community along with her talent and having the honor of playing the role of Angelica Schuyler in her senior musical theatre dance, Hamilton.
At A-State, Tristan is an involved student. She serves as the student coordinator for [email protected], a partnership between the dancers in the theatre department and the Bradbury Art Museum. She has also acted in the A-State Theatre production "All In The Timing" and assisted in making costumes for several other productions. She is the Vice President of Public Relations for the Honors College Association, serves as an Honors College Ambassador, and received the honor of 2019 Top Scholar from the Kappa Tau Alpha media honor society.
Linda (Oliver) Davis is a 1974 Greene County Tech graduate. In her early years Linda worked as a bookkeeper/secretary for the Allis Chalmers Equipment Company, Paragould Housing Authority, and Rural Health all of Paragould.
Linda is uniquely qualified for her position at A Time to Dance having been a dance mom for many years. Her daughter, Elizabeth, is the owner/instructor of A Time to Dance. Linda serves the studio as a volunteer collecting monthly tuition. She also assists in other areas, helping out where needed.
Linda and her husband John are active members of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church. She is also the author of the book So Young, So Loved, So Missed which was written after the loss of Elizabeth's older sister Erica. The book can be found on the following websites and Ignited Gifts, Paragould, AR
A Time to Dance's spring recital, "Dancing Through Life" will be Saturday, May 9th at the Collins Theater in Paragould, AR.
